L’exposition collective « Paperworks » réunit vingt-huit artistes contemporains — des plus grands de ce siècle jusqu’à la génération la plus jeune — autour d’un ensemble exceptionnel et inédit d’œuvres sur papier. Le parcours de l’exposition donne à voir la formidable créativité de cette expression si particulière et propose de revisiter, sous l’angle graphique, les courants majeurs de l’Histoire de l’Art : Pop Art, Nouveau Réalisme, Figuration Narrative, Figuration Libre, Street Art... Les chefs-d’œuvre ainsi réunis, signés Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, César, Yves Klein, Valerio Adami, Robert Combas, Erró, et tant d’autres, rendent compte de la diversité et de la richesse de ce medium. Entre procédés de recherches et stratégies des plus audacieuses, la centaine d’œuvres exposées, réalisées de 1957 à nos jours privilégient la voie de l’expérimentation. Les artistes accordent au support papier une grande importance, au point, comme le rappelle cette sélection, de travailler toutes les techniques : techniques mixtes, pastel, aquarelle, fusain, encre, mais aussi compression, collage, découpage… Visible jusqu’au 12 novembre 2016, l’exposition « Paperworks » met en lumière la place spécifique du travail sur papier au sein des démarches contemporaines. Entre invention et transgression, la création se donne « à vif » sur le papier, au plus près de la genèse des formes.

The group exhibition "Paperworks" brings together twenty-eight contemporary artists - from the greatest of this century to the youngest generation - around an exceptional and unpublished collection of works on paper. The exhibition shows the tremendous creativity of this very particular expression and proposes to revisit, from a graphic point of view, the major currents in the history of art: Pop Art, New Realism, Narrative Figuration, Free Figuration, Street Art... The masterpieces thus gathered, signed Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, César, Yves Klein, Valerio Adami, Robert Combas, Erró, and so many others, give an account of the diversity and richness of this medium. Between research processes and the most daring strategies, the hundred or so works exhibited, produced from 1957 to the present day, favor the path of experimentation. The artists give great importance to the paper medium, to the point, as this selection reminds us, of working with all techniques: mixed media, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, ink, but also compression, collage, cutting ... Visible until November 12, 2016, the exhibition "Paperworks" highlights the specific place of work on paper within contemporary approaches. Between invention and transgression, creation is given "raw" on paper, as close as possible to the genesis of forms.
